How to Make Fabric Carrots?
Create charming fabric carrots by cutting orange fabric into triangles, stitching with green fabric tops, stuffing, and either hand-sewing or using jute/twine for a quick finish.
Now, let’s get started on this creative journey together in step by step!
Materials Needed
- Orange fabric
- Green fabric
- Fiberfill stuffing
- Printable template
- Hand needle and thread (or jute/twine for a shortcut)
Step 1: Cutting the Carrot Shapes
Begin by cutting out the templates. Place a triangle template on top of the orange fabric, ensuring the base faces the long edge.
Cut out one carrot, then flip the template and cut a second. Repeat this process for the third carrot. Sew the leftover fabric pieces together with the right sides facing, creating a fourth carrot.
Step 2: Attaching the Green Tops
Cut the green fabric into 2 by 8-inch strips. Place an orange fabric piece with the right side up, and position a green fabric strip on top with the right side facing down.
Stitch them together using a quarter-inch seam allowance. Fold the carrot in half with right sides facing, aligning edges and matching seams. Stitch along the raw edges using a quarter-inch seam allowance.
Step 3: Stuffing and Closing
Turn the carrot right side out, using a chopstick if necessary to fully poke out the tip. Fill the carrot with fiberfill stuffing to your desired fullness.
Adjust the stuffing away from the opening, and use a hand needle and thread to stitch around the top of the carrot near the seam.
Pull the thread tight to close the carrot, tie a knot, and secure the needle through the inside stuffing.
Step 4: Finishing Touches
For added realism, make vertical cuts into the green fabric at the top of the carrot to simulate the carrot tops.
And just like that, in no time at all, you have a set of adorable stuffed fabric carrots ready to enhance your seasonal spring and Easter decor.
